This is the first video I shot for Ben-Istanbul blog. Bahar Gozkun and her “only for man” fashion boutique and workshop Civan are the protagonists: it is a story of tailoring and crafts’ poetry. Have a look!

“like Naples after winning the season” was shot in Cihangir during the 19 May’s national holiday.
19 May the Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day (Atatürk’ü Anma, Gençlik ve Spor Bayramı), is an annual Turkish national holiday celebrated on May 19 to commemorate Mustafa Kemal’s landing at Samsun on May 19, 1919, which is regarded as the beginning of the Turkish War of Independence in the official historiography.

“Seagulls don’t seem to care about politics” was shot in Kadikoy (on the Asian side of Istanbul) and in Istiklal Caddesi, in Beyoğlu.
Elections in Turkey will be next June so every party is pushing with election campaign.

“No matter what, it’s candyfloss time!” was shot in February in Kadikoy, on the Asian side of Istanbul.
Despite wind and waves, people were hanging around on the seashore and a man was selling candyfloss directly from the trunk of his car. A real business man.

“Elbow grease for copper mirrors, or l’arrotino” was shot in February in Cihangir, close to Taksim square.
Snow just stopped falling after a crazy cold winter. I met this old couple, squatting in the street while polishing all kind of copper pots: they are itinerant grinders.

“How to make a cat feel home” was shot in May in Balat, close to the Golden Horn, right under the great Theodosian Walls.
This little space is set like a house: chairs, sofas, carpets. A nice lady takes daily care of a group of cats, cleaning, feeding them and, most of all, cuddling them.
